How to Instantly Create Converting Squeeze-Pages
When I first started to peek into the world of Internet Marketing, I found that I have to quickly acquire a new set of skills to make any progress. Suddenly I had to be a webmaster, a web designer, a copywriter, etc. As I am working on my own with no guidance around, I was looking for instant solutions. Thinking of it, everything in my life is instant : from instant coffee to establishing instant web presence.
Fortunately, I came across several simple tools that made me ”instantly” transform from the learning mode to practice mode.
Since I am working half day at the office and then taking care of my 2 kids, my time is very scarce. So I needed the tools that would prove to be the simplest, easiest to implement and actually get me to do the job.
I decided to first start capturing some leads, what is referred to as list building. I chose to do so by participating in giveaway events. Participating as a contributor requires setting up a domain, hosting account, an autoresponder account, a squeeze page and a gift. Quite exhausting for a beginner…..
For hosting I picked Hostgator and for the autoresponder I picked Aweber as it was most recommended(and I am glad I did so). Do yourself a favor and stay away from the free autoresponders.
Since I have no webmaster or web designer skills, I was really psyched when I bumped into
“Squeeze Buz”, which you can get free from IM Buzz if you click the banner at the bottom.
This is a simple free tool, very easy to use and I truly recommend it to anyone who is just starting out. All you have to do is just select the template, type in the title of your squeeze page, some bullet points about yor gift, tag words and your autoresponder code. Then the program generates the html document.
To give my page some bizzazz, I used NVU, a free HTML editor to make some adjusments, edit the fonts and added some graphics.
Here is a sample squeeze page that I created very quickly with this program.
Although this squeeze page generator provides very simplistic templates (without the web 2.0 style graphics), you can easily edit it with NVU to make it look more appealing. However, watch out not to make the following mistakes :
(1) When selecting the template, make sure the background color matches the “look and feel” of your gift. Of course you can change background if you are more familiar with HTML.
(2) Don’t use too many colors (not more than 2-3 colors) and make sure they match the background and gift “theme”.
(3) Don’t use too many graphics. Use one for the gift picture and possibly checkmarks as your bullet points.
(4) Keep the product benefits short. Using the queeze Page generator you get to insert 6 points (benefits) and that should be enough. Don’t use too much wording. Let the title and graphics do the selling.
When you finish, upload the page and the graphics to your hosting.
When you edit the page with NVU, you can also insert video. All you have to do is get the embed code from YouTube and insert it into the HTML. Make sure that the alignement and size (width and height) fit your template. You can also adjust them to fit accordingly. While using NVU you might not be able to actually see the video on your page. However, when you upload the page to your site, it will be there.
Here is a sample video squeeze page created with the generator and NVU.
If you wish to have enhanced video squeeze pages with nicer graphics, you can get ready made video templates. Some of them have already the Aweber autoresponder code embeded in them and all you have to do is change a couple of parameters to fit your autoresponder settings.
Those are crash insant ideas on squeeze pages…. now I got to go nuke myself some instant lunch…
